Liverpool named third in the world to visit and top UK city

As reported in the Liverpool Echo the city has really come to life and offers more than just shopping.

Travel bible Rough Guides names Liverpool the top UK city and third in world for people to visit this year

Liverpool has been named the third city in the world to visit in 2014.
Liverpool's culture renaissance and revitalised Baltic Triangle area were selected as highlights by travel bible Rough Guide when they named the city in the top three to visit this year.
Already 2014 is shaping up to be an incredible year in the city. Today the Sea Odyssey giants were named to be returning while other big events include the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Festival in May, March's reopening of the Everyman theatre, the Jazz Festival and Mondrian at Tate Liverpool.
For a full guide of Liverpool's cultural highlights in 2014, click here.

Annual features, meanwhile, include the Chinese New Year, Light Night, Africa Oye, the Grand National at Aintree and the Merseyside derby.
Talking about the city, Rough Guide said: "What began with the gradual redevelopment of the Albert Dock area has evolved into a full-blown cultural renaissance.

"Liverpool, once named the world’s pop music capital, has rediscovered its mojo. And guess what? It’s setting trends again. Visit in 2014 to experience the Liverpool Biennial, a ten-week-long contemporary arts festival over the summer that sees the city filled with works from around the world.
"Also keep an eye out for new creative quarters like the Baltic Triangle, where bars and fashion studios are springing up in old, brick-built warehouses near the Mersey."
Brazil’s Carnaval capital Rio was named top spot ahead of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Sarajevo while Glasgow was named number

Our beautiful garden is bursting with colour this Spring, it looks amazing!

Lord Street, Southport Looking beautiful

Last October we started planting 1300 Daffodil bulbs in the gardens outside Sainsbury's.
Presently half are in flower and the other half are coming up.
The outcome looks absolutely beautiful and well worth all the hard work by myself and three other volunteers. The bulbs were all donated by our local Sainsbury's store along with a garden centre voucher for £50.00. Spent of course on more plants!

Spring is in the air

Spring is definitely in the air as Southport gets ready for Easter.
Lord Street volunteer group merged with Rotten Row volunteers for an eventful afternoon.
Asda Community champion Sharon Gregory - Wareing and David Rose from the Southport Flower Show
came along and helped out on the day. I would like to thank David for sourcing the bedding plants.
Eighty two large stone planters were filled with over 800 bedding plants.
Lord Street is once again blooming!

All the volunteers had an enjoyable days planting.
The sun was shining down upon us thankfully.
I would like to thank all involved for giving their time to make our town look colourful.
